Senior Data Analyst, Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of analyzing user lifecycle activities on-platform, spanning from on-ramp payments (ACH/Card related) through trading to withdrawals: identify the factors contributing to anomalies and net loss, and uncover strategies to mitigate them.

• Conduct thorough investigations into fraud cases and user profiles to assess exposure, and devise and backtest strategies/models for managing these exposures.

• Design and evaluate A/B experiments to assess the impact of changes in risk rules and processes on loss rates, pass rates, and customer friction.

• Strong advantage in utilizing ML techniques to identify patterns in fraud and loss data that may be overlooked by manual analysis.

• Decompose net loss by various drivers (fraud type, payment method, user segment) and monitor it as a key performance metric.

• Develop and sustain dashboards and monitoring systems for all critical Risk & Compliance payment metrics, ensuring timely alerts when trends shift.

• Collaborate closely with Risk, Payments, and Product teams to translate analysis into actionable changes.

• Perform ad-hoc analyses to investigate new fraud and loss trends and quickly quantify their impacts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in risk analytics.

• Proficient in SQL, along with Python or R for quantitative analysis and statistical modeling.

• Practical experience with payment/chargeback data (including reason codes, net loss attribution, etc.).

• Strong understanding of A/B testing and experiment design (including hypothesis formulation, guardrails, and analysis readout).

• Excellent data visualization and dashboarding capabilities.

• Ability to convey complex data insights into clear, actionable information for non-technical stakeholders.

• Solid foundation in statistics.

• Experience working in a fast-paced tech environment; background in fintech or crypto is advantageous.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while upholding analytical rigor and execution quality.
