
Senior Cytogenetic Technologist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Conduct chromosome analysis, including imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic samples.
• Evaluate FISH and oncology chromosome samples for count, structural abnormalities, and morphology.
• Prepare preliminary reports for director interpretation by organizing chromosome pairs into karyotypes.
• Input analysis data into computer systems for director interpretation.
• Review karyotypes in accordance with departmental and group procedures prior to director evaluation.
• Confirm chromosome placement, orientation, patient demographics, diagnosis matching, test orders, and results.
• Transfer electronic images remotely to and from satellite reading laboratories.
• Conduct routine maintenance on laboratory and computer equipment.
• Engage in proficiency testing and maintain necessary records.
• Attend mandatory meetings and represent the laboratory in a professional manner.
• Participate in ongoing education initiatives.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures and perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• A minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Non-traditional degrees with relevant science credits that meet CLIA standards may fulfill educational requirements.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory setting.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Proficient in computer usage and familiar with laboratory information systems.
• Strong attention to detail accompanied by excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the role.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Willingness to work overtime or alternative shifts as required by business needs.
• Maintain a private, HIPAA-compliant workspace.
• Agree to include home address in case reporting as mandated by CMS.
• Minimum internet speed of 100 Mbps.
• Capability to work remotely in a dynamic, multi-site environment.
• Preferred: National Credentialing Agency (NCA) Cytogenetics certification (CLSp-CG).
• Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification.
