This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +3 more states.
• Adjust Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI), Private Products, and Named Peril claims within a designated territory.
• Prioritize servicing policyholders and agents as the foremost objective.
• Cultivate and sustain professional relationships with the Area Claim Supervisor, policyholders, agents, and fellow adjusters.
• Foster and uphold agency relationships within the region.
• Document and transmit loss information to assess potential damages in accordance with FCIC, NCIS, and company protocols.
• Manage complex and varied claims that necessitate extensive field claim expertise.
• Conduct field inspections, interpret maps and aerial images, and measure fields and storage bins.
• Diagnose problems and offer system support to other field claims personnel utilizing company software.
• Regularly monitor company communications, including email, Webex, and text messages.
• Adhere to FCIS, state, and company rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Operate from a home office.
• Complete initial and ongoing training and certifications mandated by FCIC and state regulations.
• Clarify adjusting procedures and findings to policyholders and agents.
• Conduct investigations and fact-finding missions regarding crop damage to ascertain potential indemnities.
• Acquire knowledge on new crops.
• Provide training to other field claims personnel on claim procedures.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience as a crop insurance adjuster.
• Preferred 2 years of experience in handling crop insurance claims.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• CAPP certification is required.
• Applicable state license is required.
• Basic proficiency in mathematical skills.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to fulfill documentation requirements.
• Analytical thinking, fact-finding, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with crop insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
• Initiative and capacity to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong skills in time management and prioritization.
• Ability to operate in both an office setting and outdoor agricultural environments.
• Capability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
• Ability to walk up to 3 miles in agricultural fields.
• Ability to climb agricultural storage bins up to 75 feet and perform tasks at significant heights.
• Competence in climbing, crawling, stooping, kneeling, and balancing.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, extreme weather conditions, and high dust levels.
• Proficiency in using necessary personal protective equipment.
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and as required.
• Up to 50% travel, predominantly within a two-hour driving radius from the assigned home office.
