This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead Complex Trials: Act on behalf of clients in intricate and high-stakes insurance defense matters, including those involving severe injuries, wrongful death, property damage, and professional liability.
• Case Strategy and Planning: Formulate and implement case strategies that encompass risk evaluation, discovery, motion practices, and trial preparation.
• Client Advisement: Collaborate closely with clients, insurance providers, and adjusters to deliver clear legal guidance, case evaluations, and updates regarding case progress.
• Litigation Management: Oversee every phase of litigation, which includes pleadings, discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, and settlement discussions.
• Courtroom Representation: Act as lead counsel during jury trials, bench trials, and mediations, articulating cases in an effective and persuasive manner.
• Team Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support personnel, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to best practices.
• Collaboration with Experts: Work in conjunction with expert witnesses, such as medical, forensic, engineering, and economic specialists, to bolster case arguments.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.
• Active legal license to practice in California and eligibility for federal court practice.
• Over 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation with a significant emphasis on complex trial work.
• Proven track record as lead trial counsel in several high-stakes cases.
• Extensive knowledge of civil procedure, tort law, insurance law, and trial tactics.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage and prioritize a large, demanding caseload with minimal supervision.
• Outstanding oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation abilities.
• Strong skills in client relationship management with a knack for conveying complex legal strategies clearly.
• Preferred background in catastrophic injury, construction defect, or professional liability cases.
• Familiarity with e-discovery tools and case management software.
• Membership in local or national trial lawyer associations is advantageous.
• The base salary for this role ranges from $160,000 to $190,000 per year, contingent on experience and qualifications.
• Attorneys qualify for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with an additional aggregation of $7,500 for each extra tier.
• Comprehensive benefits package provided, including plans available at no cost to employees (average annual employer contribution for health, vision, dental, and life coverage is between $700 and $1,700).
• Employees have access to a 401(k) program featuring a 100% match on the first 3% contributed and a 50% match on the subsequent 4-5%.

• Paid parental leave at base salary.
