Senior Controls Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• The Senior Controls Engineer will be tasked with overseeing the design, functionality, and testing of advanced automated sortation systems.

• Take the lead and provide assistance in the design and programming of new initiatives.

• Identify and resolve control-related challenges involving I/O, hardware (Controller setup, VFDs, communication devices) and software (PLC and HMI).

• Offer leadership, direction, and mentoring to junior engineers.

• Collaborate with other members of the FORTNA controls team to ensure precise documentation and optimal system performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.

• 4-7 years of experience in an industrial controls setting.

• Proficiency in PLC programming (Rockwell is mandatory; experience with Siemens, Schneider, or others is preferred).

• Experience in HMI Programming (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, Indusoft).

• Competence in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting input and output devices.

• Familiarity with industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).

• Understanding and ability to create low voltage electrical designs and drawings.

• Equivalent work experience will be accepted as a substitute for formal education.

• Experience with VFDs is advantageous.

• Proficient in using Microsoft 365 - Office Applications.
