This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Manage the entire monthly closing process from start to finish, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-coordinated financial reporting in collaboration with Accounting and key stakeholders.
• Review and approve accruals, cut-off entries, reconciliations, and reporting packages intended for Management and FP&A.
• Serve as the primary resource for technical accounting inquiries, assisting with new business models, contracts, and intricate accounting treatments.
• Create and maintain technical accounting documentation and position papers on topics such as revenue recognition, capitalization, leases, and other complex issues.
• Oversee and coordinate with external partners, including accountants, tax advisors, and auditors, ensuring high-quality documentation and seamless collaboration.
• Enhance internal controls by identifying anomalies, addressing outstanding items, and progressively improving control effectiveness.
• Lead initiatives for process and system enhancements to minimize manual tasks, boost closing efficiency, and establish scalable, well-documented workflows.
• Leverage AI tools for analysis, variance explanations, audit preparation, and accounting research, while ensuring thorough critical review and accountability for the outputs.
• Construct a modern, scalable finance function through automation, standardization, and ongoing improvement.
• Several years of practical experience in Accounting, Controlling, or Financial Reporting, preferably in rapidly growing environments with increasing complexity.
• Previous experience in leading or coordinating a small accounting team is advantageous.
• Comprehensive knowledge of German HGB; exposure to IFRS is a plus.
• Demonstrated ownership of the complete monthly closing cycle, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and high-quality end-to-end reporting.
• Strong internal controls mindset, with the ability to proactively spot risks, design controls, and continuously enhance processes.
• Advanced DATEV skills and proficiency in working with accounting systems and financial data.
• Comfortable utilizing AI tools to boost productivity (such as research, documentation, anomaly detection, and reporting support) while exercising strong critical judgment on the outputs.
• Structured, documentation-first approach with a keen focus on audit readiness and transparency.
• Strong motivation for process enhancement, with a sharp eye for inefficiencies and scalable solutions.
• Proven skills in stakeholder management, with experience in collaborating with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors.
