This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Accountable for overseeing the financial management functions of the company.
• Ensures adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) standards.
• Facilitates corporate expansion through precise financial reporting, efficient processes, and robust fiscal management.
• Administers daily accounting operations.
• Directs the accounting team.
• Works closely with executive leadership to deliver financial insights, analysis, and forecasting that inform decision-making and support sustainable growth.
• Manages daily accounting tasks including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, labor distribution, and general ledger oversight.
• Ensures all financial transactions adhere to GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA standards.
• Prepares and reviews month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, encompassing journal entries, reconciliations, indirect rate calculations, and management reporting.
• Assists in preparing and submitting incurred cost submissions and engages in annual audits by coordinating with external auditors, DCAA, or Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
• Develops and sustains effective internal controls.
• Collaborates with the CEO and COO to formulate budgets, forecasts, cash flow analyses, and indirect rate models.
• Oversees contract and project accounting.
• Manages and enhances Deltek Costpoint (or equivalent ERP).
• Fosters the professional development of accounting staff to encourage accuracy, accountability, and career growth within the Accounting & Finance team.
• Ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements and submissions.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of four years of progressive experience as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager in a government contracting setting.
• Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance, with proven experience in supporting DCAA/DCMA audits.
• Significant experience with Deltek Costpoint.
• Demonstrated capability in preparing incurred cost submissions, indirect rate models, and facilitating external and government audits.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks, perform effectively under tight time constraints, meet strict deadlines, and respond promptly to urgent issues with professionalism and composure.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to build and maintain robust working relationships, both internally and externally.
• High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
