
Senior Consultant – Sales Tax

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Client Advisory & Engagement Management
• Act as the main point of contact for designated clients, overseeing daily communications and serving as a trusted sales tax advisor.
• Interpret and address client questions effectively.
• Identify risks, issues, and opportunities proactively; provide clear and professional recommendations.
• Lead the onboarding process for new clients, including reviewing sample data, expected outputs, and compliance timelines.
• Advanced Data Review & Compliance Oversight
• Conduct and/or supervise in-depth reviews of client sales data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to jurisdictional requirements.
• Review and validate state and local jurisdictional files generated by internal sales tax solutions, confirming accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation to source data.
• Execute high-level and detailed reconciliations of calculated tax, reported amounts, and payments.
• Verify filing accuracy before submission, including schedules, attachments, and necessary supporting documentation.
• Technical Analysis & Problem Resolution
• Investigate discrepancies, notices, and system exceptions, coordinating resolutions with internal teams and clients.
• Assist with audits and client inquiries by preparing documentation, explanations, and reconciliations.
• Process Leadership, Controls & Governance
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, review standards, data privacy, and documentation requirements.
• Maintain and review audit-ready workpapers, checklists, and evidence of controls.
• Lead updates to process documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Identify control gaps, recurring issues, and opportunities for automation, collaborating with technology teams on improvements.
• Team Leadership & Development
• Assist in training initiatives by sharing best practices, technical expertise, and process enhancements.
• Collaboration and continuous improvement
• Prepare and review status reports, exception logs, and operational metrics for internal stakeholders and clients.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives to minimize errors, reduce cycle time, and lessen manual effort.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• A minimum of 3 years of related work experience
• Attain professional certifications pertinent to the area of expertise, with required licenses to be maintained
• Strong analytical skills are essential
• Proficient in the use of relevant technology
• Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
