This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.
• Evaluate current customer implementations of Postgres and related tools; create recommendations and document necessary technical procedures in comprehensive runbooks.
• Conduct database migrations from Oracle, SQL Server, and/or MySQL to PostgreSQL — including schema conversion, data migration, and PL/SQL remediation.
• Design, implement, and test High Availability configurations using PostgreSQL, such as EFM, Patroni, and PGD (Active/Active) architectures.
• Optimize performance for existing database setups: enhancing queries, database configuration, and OS-level optimization.
• Establish backup and recovery strategies (Barman, WAL archiving, PITR); carry out upgrades and patch management.
• Assess customer security needs and provide recommendations regarding authentication, encryption, and access control.
• Collaborate with customers to upgrade applications to the latest Postgres version and configure them to leverage new features.
• Create Professional Services proposals that meet customer expectations and objectives; play a role in the PS pre-sales process.
• Partner with clients to develop scalable data engineering pipelines, data models, data warehouses, and analytics platforms from conception to deployment.
• Configure and set up the underlying data infrastructure — storage, compute clusters, cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks) — and pinpoint performance tuning opportunities.
• Develop sophisticated analytics models, dashboards, and reporting frameworks that deliver actionable business intelligence to client stakeholders.
• Assist clients in incorporating AI/ML capabilities, LLMs, RAG pipelines, and predictive analytics into their existing data ecosystems and EDB Postgres AI platform.
• Ensure high standards of data quality, governance, security, and performance optimization across all client deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English — required at a professional level.
• Proficiency in a second European language is a notable advantage. Italian is especially valued for current EMEA customer engagements; Spanish is also a strong asset.
• Consultant level: 2–5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, database consulting, or a data-centric technical role.
• Senior Consultant level: 5–8+ years of DBA-level experience with Postgres or Oracle, with a minimum of 2 years in a professional consulting organization or equivalent.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT/Data Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL — including administration, performance tuning, High Availability configuration, and replication.
• Experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server — particularly as migration source environments.
• Strong SQL capabilities; familiarity with database design, application concepts, and schema management for PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Linux system administration skills (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, Debian), including scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
• Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and core modern data stack tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt).
• Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, along with advanced SQL skills. Experience in building batch and/or real-time data pipelines.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling (Star/Snowflake schema), and data architecture principles.
• Experience working with data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, PyTorch) and a functional understanding of deploying or integrating AI/ML models.
• Access to CuraLinc for health and wellness tips and practices.
• Wellness Fridays extending to December 2026.
