This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Accountable for delivering advanced analysis and management of compensation programs that align with SGS North America’s compensation strategy.
• Ensures compliance, external competitiveness, and internal equity for compensation programs in both Canada and the United States.
• Facilitates pay equity and pay transparency reporting in Canada.
• Oversees the annual merit cycle.
• Conducts market research on salary budgets, assists with system preparations, performs data audits, creates training materials, and educates the HR community and Managers on necessary process steps.
• Collaborates with the Head of Total Rewards and the Finance team on the annual short-term incentive payout and monthly accrual process.
• Responsible for timely reporting, collecting HR data, and conducting audits to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Manages other variable compensation programs by preparing calculation files, performing data audits, and coordinating payments with the payroll department.
• Leads the job description harmonization project by partnering with business and HR teams to optimize our job description repository.
• Develops job descriptions that are applicable across all business lines, ensuring consistency in format, style, and thoroughness in content.
• May conduct job evaluations as necessary.
• Develops, maintains, and enhances compensation models, dashboards, and reports utilizing advanced Excel skills.
• Analyzes large data sets to uncover trends, investigate inconsistencies, and identify opportunities for improving compensation data.
• May engage in salary survey submissions and data analysis to confirm accurate market positioning.
• Conducts ad-hoc analyses, compensation reviews, and approval processes for new hire or internal offer recommendations, as well as off-cycle adjustments.
• Offers advice and support to leaders and HR professionals in interpreting and administering all compensation programs.
• A university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of hands-on compensation experience supporting Canadian and US compensation programs within a large corporate setting.
• Practical experience and expert-level proficiency in Excel (advanced functions, lookups, pivot tables, and data modeling).
• Professional compensation certifications (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)) are strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of, and ability to interpret and apply, Compensation legislation in both Canada and the US.
• Capability to manage and coordinate multiple projects within a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
