Senior Cloud Platform Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Build, manage, and enhance data streaming infrastructure utilizing Amazon MSK (Kafka) or Google Pub/Sub

• Design, implement, and oversee highly available database and caching solutions across multi-cloud environments

• Develop and sustain infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud automation with Terraform and Python

• Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability for data platform services

• Collaborate with application development teams to diagnose, fine-tune, and enhance application performance and data access layers

• Administer and optimize Starburst Galaxy and AWS Athena for extensive analytics workloads

• Engage in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident evaluations

• Participate in an on-call rotation for mission-critical data infrastructure

• Review application source code and work collaboratively on performance and reliability improvements

• Assess emerging tools and AI-assisted automation methodologies

• Contribute to capacity planning, disaster recovery, security enhancements, and cost optimization efforts

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of software engineering or infrastructure experience

• Minimum of 2 years in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering managing production systems at scale

• Practical experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform, including networking, identity, and security fundamentals

• Production experience with Apache Kafka, covering partitions, consumer groups, delivery semantics, and backpressure

• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases; PostgreSQL is required

• Proficient in Python and Shell scripting

• Significant experience with Terraform, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Git, Ansible, and Kubernetes in production

• Knowledge of implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting for distributed systems

• Capability to contribute to root cause analysis for production incidents

• Understanding of high availability, fault tolerance, consistency models, and disaster recovery

• Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills

• Background investigation is required
