Senior Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and execute serverless workloads on AWS utilizing Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, DynamoDB, and S3.

• Create and maintain CloudFormation (YAML) templates as the authoritative source for infrastructure, including nested stacks, change sets, and drift detection.

• Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines that lint, test, package, and deploy CloudFormation stacks and code across various environments with established promotion and rollback strategies.

• Build Python-based Lambda functions, internal tools, and automation, ensuring proper testing, logging, error handling, and dependency management.

• Offer architectural guidance for distributed event-driven systems, addressing choreography versus orchestration, idempotency, delivery semantics, dead-letter and replay strategies, and schema evolution.

• Define event contracts and asynchronous integration patterns in collaboration with application teams.

• Implement observability across services, including structured logging, distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry), metrics, and actionable alarms.

• Engage in incident response and post-incident reviews, converting findings into automated guardrails and runbooks.

• Conduct code and design reviews; mentor junior and mid-level engineers on serverless patterns, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards, and operational practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of professional experience in cloud or software engineering.

• More than 2 years of experience in building production AWS serverless workloads.

• Strong proficiency in Python, including knowledge of pytest, packaging, and asynchronous patterns.

• Hands-on experience with CloudFormation, utilizing Stacks and StackSets.

• Proven experience in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines that deploy infrastructure, application code, and provision managed services.

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture patterns and the trade-offs between EventBridge, SNS, SQS, and Kinesis.

• Practical knowledge of AWS IAM, VPC networking, KMS, and least-privilege design for serverless workloads.

• Experience in producing design documentation and guiding technical decisions from ambiguous requirements.

• Basic web application development experience to create internal tools, admin UIs, or lightweight frontends that integrate with serverless APIs.

• Must possess an active security clearance and CompTIA Security+ certification.
