Senior Cloud Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• In the role of Senior Cloud Architect, you will serve as the technical leader for Intelex's public cloud transformation, focusing on designing resilient, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure.

• You will define and take ownership of the cloud architecture vision, standards, and roadmap for Intelex's AWS-first (multi-cloud aware) infrastructure.

• Your responsibilities will include designing highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure that integrates networking, security controls, performance engineering, and cost optimization.

• You will evaluate and recommend cloud-native services, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns that align with our product and business goals.

• Lead the assessment and implementation of cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including the re-platforming of legacy systems.

• You will architect cloud infrastructure to enhance Intelex's AI product portfolio, including scalable model serving, data pipelines, and LLM integrations.

• Collaborate with the Data & AI team to guarantee that the Snowflake, S3-based data lake, and real-time streaming infrastructure are production-ready and cost-effective.

• Define and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code standards utilizing Terraform, with a focus on reusable modules, security scanning, and CI-driven validation.

• Establish and uphold CI/CD pipeline standards (GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy) for both infrastructure and application delivery.

• Work in partnership with InfoSec to implement cloud security best practices, enforce least-privilege access, and uphold compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).

• Define and implement observability standards across metrics, logs, and traces using New Relic, CloudWatch, and Azure Monitor.

• Drive the definition of SLO/SLA and enhance reliability across critical SaaS services.

• Lead the coordination of major incident responses and contribute to a blameless post-mortem culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, CloudOps, DevOps, or SRE roles supporting highly available SaaS/production platforms.

• More than 5 years of hands-on AWS architecture experience; AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification is preferred.

• Proven expertise in Terraform module design, security policy-as-code, and CI-integrated infrastructure validation.

• Strong proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes (EKS / AKS), AWS ECS, and Docker.

• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitHub Actions; familiarity with Octopus Deploy or Jenkins is a plus.

• Fluency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell for automation and operational tooling.

• Experience in architecting solutions for compliance-sensitive environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR / PIPEDA).

• Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting architectural decisions to leadership, senior engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
