This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
• Ensures that clinical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant, accurately reflecting the severity of illness, risk of mortality, and supporting appropriate reimbursement.
• Collaborates closely with providers, coding teams, and practice participants to enhance documentation quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote value-based care initiatives.
• Develops and implements standardized processes, job aids, and error prevention tools to enhance clinical documentation integrity across participating practices.
• Educates providers and office staff on best practices for clinical documentation standards to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Conducts both prospective and retrospective reviews, preparing analyses and reports to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Offers guidance and consultation to internal practice staff to enhance coding proficiency and documentation accuracy.
• Works collaboratively with population health and practice teams to support quality programs, value-based initiatives, and standardized data abstraction processes.
• Advises practice staff on compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to Medicare coding and documentation guidelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (4 years of related experience may substitute for the degree).
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) or coding.
• At least 3 years of experience in supporting healthcare value-based programs, including Medicare Risk (experience may overlap).
• At least one required certification, such as CPC, CRC, CCS‑P, CCS‑H, RHIT, CCDS, or CDIP.
• Advanced understanding of ICD‑10 coding guidelines and clinical documentation standards.
• Strong familiarity with CMS quality programs, HCCs, value‑based care models, and EHR systems.
• Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
