Senior Claim Manager – Group Insurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver concierge-level customer service to one of Group Insurance’s major clients

• Assist and coach client employees throughout the disability claims life cycle

• Manage a designated block of around 75 Long-Term Disability and Short-Term Disability claims

• Oversee intricate claims involving co-morbidities, behavioral health issues, and self-reported symptoms

• Address Behavioral Health and Vocational opportunities by collaborating with Expert Resources

• Engage directly with the client’s Leave team during quarterly virtual meetings

• Interact daily with the client’s Benefits Business Partners

• Identify opportunities to improve the claimant experience

• Act as an ambassador for ongoing process enhancement within the Concierge Team

• Provide technical guidance to other claims personnel when necessary

• Ensure exceptional service through various communication channels including telephone, email, letters, Teams messaging, group Teams calls, and video calls

• Document telephone interactions and create clear, concise claim plans

• Execute financial calculations related to salary, incentives, partial disability, return-to-work incentives, and offsets

• Operate independently through uncertain situations and adapt quickly

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of LTD experience required

• Preferred experience and/or understanding of STD claim handling and Life Waiver of Premium

• Advanced, proactive communication skills across various platforms including telephone, email, letters, Teams messaging, group Teams calls, and one-on-one video calls

• Demonstrated energetic customer focus in maintaining customer relationships

• Confidence in communicating with highly skilled and educated claimants in the software sector

• Ability to interact confidently with attorneys and specialized medical professionals, including psychiatric providers

• Strong documentation skills for recording telephone conversations and developing clear, concise claim plans

• Capability to comprehend and interpret complex and non-standard policy and plan provisions

• Proven ability to work independently through ambiguous situations and pivot quickly

• Advanced mathematical skills for performing financial calculations related to salary, incentives, partial disability, return-to-work incentives, and offsets

• Ability to provide technical guidance to other claims personnel as needed

• Excellent organizational and time management capabilities

• Demonstrated teamwork abilities and resource leveraging to achieve goals

• Capacity to work virtually

• Preference for availability during Pacific Time Zone business hours, or the ability to work a later shift supporting West Coast clients

• Internet service plan with a minimum of 25 Mbps download speed

• Willingness to troubleshoot home internet issues or outages with the service provider

• Capability to handle calls with a cell phone that has unlimited data and minutes or a landline

• Quiet home work environment with minimal distractions and noise
