This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri, +1 more state.
• Manage claims of moderate to high complexity related to material damage, property, and/or liability insurance lines.
• Perform phone and/or field investigations to assess liability and damages.
• Attend legal proceedings when necessary.
• Gather statements from insured individuals, claimants, and witnesses.
• Clarify benefits, coverages, fault, and the claims process.
• Address coverage concerns and confirm policy applicability.
• Assess claim values utilizing data related to property, bodily injury, and liability.
• Negotiate settlements within authorized limits for both first- and third-party claims.
• Maintain claim files and update databases and production reports using company systems.
• Control expenses within assigned responsibilities.
• Collaborate with both internal and external departments.
• Resolve claims independently within the established authority level.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries and issues.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• A preferred 7–9 years of prior experience in claims handling.
• A minimum of 4–6 years of experience in property, auto, casualty, or relevant claims administration is required.
• In-depth knowledge of claims administration best practices and procedures.
• Advanced understanding of insurance, fault assessment, negligence, and subrogation principles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building and vehicle repair processes and third-party liability issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with claims software such as CACS, HUON, HOC, and Guidewire.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Advanced leadership skills among colleagues.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and causality.
• A valid driver’s license, an acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles record, and minimum liability insurance as mandated by the state.
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter certification is preferred.
• Associate in Claims certification is preferred.
• An insurance/claims adjuster license may be necessary in certain states.
• Occasional travel for business meetings or conferences (5%).
