This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +5 more states.
• Take full ownership of the BDM cycle throughout Ontario and the East Coast of the USA, including prospecting, initial meetings, technical presentations, specification development with landscape architecture and civil engineering studios, tender support, and closing sales.
• Develop a qualified pipeline of over $2M in your first year, with more than 25 active specifications across designated landscape architecture and civil engineering firms, translating into significant booked revenue by the second year.
• Cultivate and maintain active relationships with leading landscape architecture and civil engineering firms in the Greater Toronto Area, wider Ontario, and key metropolitan areas along the US East Coast.
• Conduct technical lunch-and-learn sessions, site visits, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) presentations for specifiers on both sides of the border.
• Collaborate with contractors, distributors, and municipal clients to transform specifications into confirmed projects.
• Travel frequently to US East Coast markets; work in conjunction with Citygreen Systems LLC on cross-border opportunities and joint initiatives.
• Keep a disciplined pipeline in CRM, tracking leading indicators (specifications opened, specifications written) as well as lagging indicators (bookings, revenue).
• Represent Citygreen at industry events such as ULI Toronto, Landscape Ontario, OALA, CSLA, and their US East Coast counterparts (ASLA chapters, urban forestry and stormwater conferences).
• Provide market intelligence to the product and marketing teams.
• A minimum of 7 years of B2B sales experience, including at least 3 years in a specification-selling, technical product, or long sales cycle role. Backgrounds in building products, construction materials, green infrastructure, civil products, or engineered systems are particularly relevant.
• Proven track record of achieving individual revenue targets in the range of $1M or more.
• Experience in cross-border (Canada/US) sales, or clear evidence of your ability to operate effectively in both markets.
• Existing connections with landscape architecture and/or civil engineering firms in the Greater Toronto Area and/or major metropolitan areas on the US East Coast are a considerable advantage.
• You proactively generate your own pipeline without relying on marketing to supply leads. Your Monday mornings start with identifying whom you haven't contacted yet this quarter.
• You take ownership of your numbers. When a specification fails, you reflect on what you could have done differently rather than attributing it to market conditions.
• We adhere to Ideal Team Player principles: hungry, humble, and smart. All three qualities are essential, not just two. Being hungry means you are self-motivated and relentless in your work. Humble means you respect engineers and architects on technical matters while maintaining authority, and you accept feedback graciously. Smart (people-smart) implies that you can read situations, know when to push and when to hold back, and build rapport across diverse styles.
• Must be a self-starter. This remote role involves a lengthy sales cycle and spans two countries, requiring someone who can independently structure their work week without managerial oversight.
• Comfort with regular travel is essential; expect to spend approximately six nights per month on the road, divided between Ontario and US East Coast cities.
• Technically fluent or quick to gain fluency; while you don't need to be an engineer, you should be credible in discussions about soil volumes, load ratings, and drainage.
• Comfortable working within a commission-based, performance-driven compensation structure. If you prefer a salary-heavy role with minimal bonuses, this position may not be suitable.
• A genuine interest in the built environment, urban trees, and sustainable infrastructure is crucial, as the specifiers you will be engaging with care deeply about these issues.
• Nice to Have: Professional memberships with OALA, CSLA, ULI, ASLA, or Landscape Ontario. Previous experience with green infrastructure, stormwater, or structural soil systems. An established network with specification studios on the US East Coast (NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, DC metro). A valid passport and NEXUS/Global Entry (or willingness to obtain one).
• Senior-level compensation package: base salary in the range of $130–150k CAD plus uncapped variable earnings, ensuring on-target earnings easily reach six figures.
• Participate in our Growth By Sharing™ profit-sharing program after 3 months.
• Vehicle allowance (option of cash allowance or company lease equivalent) and a separate travel budget for US trips — US travel expenses are reimbursed at actual costs, not included in the vehicle allowance.
• Comprehensive benefits package, including health allowance.
• Equipped to succeed: company-issued laptop, phone, phone plan, access to LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and covered professional memberships (OALA, CSLA, ULI Toronto, Landscape Ontario, and relevant US equivalents — up to $3,000/year).
• Home-office setup allowance upon joining.
• Enjoy the flexibility of remote work that a senior role deserves.
• Join a specialist business with a meaningful mission: we provide products that help cities grow trees. This mission is important to us, and it should resonate with you too.
