Senior BI Engineer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation and enhancement of our data visualization ecosystem and analytical frameworks.

• Collaborate closely with stakeholders throughout the organization to convert raw data into actionable insights, guaranteeing high data quality and scalable reporting solutions.

• Design, construct, and uphold scalable automated data pipelines (ETL/ELT) and data models that cater to complex analytical needs.

• Create advanced dashboards and reporting tools that offer "at-a-glance" insights for executive leadership and in-depth capabilities for analysts.

• Set and uphold best practices for data documentation, metadata management, and data quality assurance to maintain "one source of the truth."

• Review and enhance SQL queries and dashboard performance to ensure rapid access to large datasets.

• Serve as a technical consultant to non-technical departments, assisting them in defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and translating business inquiries into technical specifications.

• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers on data modeling strategies and visualization best practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in BI engineering, data engineering, or a highly technical analytics position.

• Hands-on experience working with data from various, disparate systems and successfully integrating them into cohesive, high-integrity data models within a contemporary data warehouse.

• Extensive practical experience in data warehousing principles, with proven experience using cloud data warehouses such as Databricks (preferred), Snowflake, or BigQuery.

• Strong grasp of dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas) and modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt).

• Expert-level SQL proficiency (including complex joins, window functions, and performance tuning).

• Deep expertise in at least one enterprise BI platform such as Omni and/or Power BI.

• Proven analytical and creative design abilities, with the capacity to convert complex problem-solving and system designs into clear narratives for audiences ranging from entry-level staff to senior leadership.

• Ability to excel in a team-oriented, fast-paced setting while managing multiple concurrent projects and adapting to shifting priorities as business needs change.
