
Senior Backend VPP Software Engineer – TypeScript

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• As a key member of the B2C domain, you will develop a virtual power plant utilizing our energy manager "Heartbeat", while consistently delivering innovative energy market solutions to our clientele.
• You will take charge of creating scalable, robust backend services that facilitate seamless integration of our energy management solutions with various energy markets.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, data engineers, and data scientists to identify challenges, support discoveries, and craft solutions that our customers appreciate.
• Build and enhance backend services for VPP operations and energy market integrations.
• Design and implement APIs and abstraction layers to ensure smooth communication between different components of our energy market integration solutions.
• Optimize backend services for scalability, accommodating a large number of connected users.
• Develop, implement, assess, and deploy software solutions to address complex problems in a simplified manner.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation driven by experimentation within the team.
• Encourage teamwork and ensure successful project execution.
• Constantly enhance developer satisfaction by minimizing tech debt, automating processes, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
• Collaborate beyond your immediate responsibilities and work closely with our stakeholders and other teams.
• Demonstrated experience in developing scalable backend solutions using TypeScript from multiple previous projects.
• Proficiency in building virtual power plant infrastructure, including integration into energy markets (day-ahead, intraday, balancing services, etc.).
• Practical experience working with interfaces relevant to energy services (e.g., smart meters, energy optimization, load balancing).
• Extensive knowledge of various architectural patterns and experience implementing them with CI/CD via GitHub Actions and cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP).
• A strong commitment to maintainable, well-documented, reusable, and testable code.
• Awareness of current software engineering trends and industry best practices.
• An agile, product-oriented mindset and a self-identified team player.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills; proficiency in German is a plus.
