Senior Backend Software Engineer – Performance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the pacer and bidder.

• Delve deeply into the bidder and pacer stack, mapping it comprehensively to pinpoint at least one area of fragility to address from day one.

• Suggest enhancements to the bidder or pacer independently, from defining the problem to proposing a design.

• Deliver quantifiable improvements to CPx, pacing accuracy, or win rate within your initial three months.

• Elevate the team's potential.

• Share essential system knowledge to enhance team efficiency and reduce reliance on any one individual.

• Question existing designs, including those inherited, and advocate for more streamlined solutions.

• Expand your knowledge of the theoretical principles (probabilistic modeling, PID control theory) that underpin our methodologies.

• Operate at a fast-paced environment.

• Leverage AI tools as a true force multiplier (not merely as a crutch or a tick-box exercise).

• Iterate in production rather than solely in your mind; we ship, measure, and adapt.

⛳️ Requirements

• Delivered backend systems in a strongly typed language such as C++, Rust, Go, Scala, Java, or equivalent at a production level.

• Debugged distributed systems experiencing real traffic, including latency issues and consistency failures.

• Gained experience within a DSP, SSP, or bidder, possessing an understanding of auction mechanics from an insider's perspective.

• Developed or optimized pacing algorithms or PID controllers, focusing on both theory and practical implementation, beyond mere awareness.

• Have a solid foundation in probabilistic reasoning and statistical modeling, thinking in terms of distributions rather than just averages.

• Experience in a scale-up environment, understanding the realities of working quickly and with limited resources.

• Deployed ML systems in production, handling feature pipelines and model serving (not just training notebooks).

• Designed real-time data pipelines and low-latency architectures at scale.

• Worked with Redis, Kafka, or similar technologies under significant load.
