This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and enhance Zipline's engineering methodologies: assess CI/CD pipelines, test coverage, and developer workflows to identify high-impact opportunities, establish DORA benchmarks, and collaboratively create a prioritized QE roadmap with engineering leaders.

• Enhance CI/CD quality gates, including linting, security scanning (SAST/SCA), and test coverage checks, broadening coverage across pipelines while ensuring quick builds and unblocked teams.

• Create visibility into engineering health through quality dashboards that display test coverage, failure rates, and deployment trends, alongside improved monitoring and alerting that assist teams in resolving issues before they reach customers.

• Investigate and integrate AI-driven tools throughout the engineering workflow, including intelligent test generation, AI-assisted code reviews, and LLM-powered anomaly detection, to accelerate and enhance quality.

• Optimize local development: establish faster environments, facilitate smoother onboarding, and implement automation that reduces manual effort and keeps engineers productive.

• Oversee and enhance containerized infrastructure on Kubernetes and AWS using Terraform, increasing reliability and decreasing manual operational workload.

• Collaborate with various engineering teams to instill strong quality practices through influence and support.

• Advance the platform progressively towards more structured tools: policy-as-code for architectural standards, API contract testing, specification validation, and lightweight self-service patterns, aligned with the team's capability and toolset evolution.

• Engage in on-call rotations and assist with critical platform and infrastructure challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in DevEx, DevOps, or infrastructure with a strong focus on developer productivity.

• Robust experience in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar), with a proven record of building, maintaining, and enhancing pipelines for reliability and efficiency.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted developer tools, such as code review agents, test generation, or LLM-powered quality checks, and a genuine interest in how AI can transform engineering practices.

• Direct experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS; skilled in managing containerized environments and cloud infrastructure using Terraform.

• Familiarity with SAST/SCA security scanning (Snyk, Semgrep, or similar) and the integration of these into pipelines.

• Strong knowledge of observability tools (Datadog, Sentry, or similar), including the setup of meaningful alerts to minimize noise.

• Proficient in Python, Go, or Ruby for creating internal tools and automation; experience with Ruby on Rails is a plus, given our primary tech stack.

• Understanding of DORA metrics and developer experience frameworks.

• A pragmatic approach to build-vs-buy decisions: recognizing when to enhance existing solutions versus creating new ones.

• Exceptional communication skills and discipline in remote work; you gain support by providing a genuinely useful platform rather than enforcing standards.
