This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
β’ Become a part of our AI Lab as a Senior Backend Product Engineer and play a key role in driving Qonto's shift towards an AI-first product.
β’ Develop user-oriented AI agents that revolutionize the financial management of over 600,000 businesses, collaborating in small, independent teams under the mentorship of our AI Lab Manager.
β’ Create and launch a new AI agent every six weeks, taking ownership of the complete backend and AI logic from initial scoping to deployment β ensuring a balance between speed, reliability, and minimal technical debt.
β’ Design practical LLM guardrails and future-proof components that are suitable for a regulated banking environment and do not require rewriting within three months.
β’ Leverage AI coding tools (such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, etc.) to handle approximately 70% of your coding, enabling you to review, enhance, and deliver features more rapidly.
β’ Assist with frontend tasks (React/JS) as necessary, with the front-end engineer reviewing your pull requests β ensuring that the squad remains unimpeded.
β’ Proficiency in Python: You possess substantial production experience in Python and can deliver results swiftly β familiarity with Go/RoR is advantageous for integrating with Qonto's core services.
β’ Knowledge of Go or Ruby on Rails: Since Qonto's core services are developed using Go and Ruby, having a working knowledge of either will significantly enhance your effectiveness in integrating with the broader platform.
β’ Startup mentality: You are a quick learner and confident executor who thrives in a product-focused, user-centered environment without relying on a tech lead β experience in fintech or regulated industries is a plus.
β’ AI-driven workflow: You utilize AI coding tools daily to enhance your productivity. Tools like Cursor or Claude Code are integral to your work rather than experimental.
β’ Curiosity about AI over expertise: While direct production AI experience isn't mandatory, a genuine curiosity is essential: you stay updated in the field, experiment in your own time, and have attempted to create something, even if just for personal use.
β’ Excellent communication skills: You effectively convey technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and navigate cross-functional teams with ease.
β’ Unlimited access to leading AI tools in the market: Claude Code (with the Superpowers plugin), Cursor, Copilot, Notion AI.
β’ A Python-focused tech stack with hands-on AI agent projects from day one β including PydanticAI, LangGraph, and LangChain (familiarity with these frameworks is appreciated; production expertise is not essential).
β’ A streamlined culture where autonomy is the norm β you will be developing the agents, not merely utilizing them, taking full ownership of outcomes within a minimally structured team where every hour counts.
β’ A defined growth trajectory: this position is designed to progress towards an AI Software Engineer role. If your goal is to become an AI-native engineer, this is the place to make it happen.
