Senior Backend Engineer, Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop robust search solutions that can scale with our rapidly expanding user base.

• Enhance search relevance, accuracy, and speed to provide users with the most pertinent results at lightning-fast speeds.

• Optimize our real-time indexing pipelines to ensure that search results are consistently up-to-date.

• Establish measurement frameworks to assess and improve search quality.

• Build and upgrade vector search capabilities to enable next-generation search experiences.

• Collaborate with AI, backend, and product teams to seamlessly integrate search into new features.

• Diagnose and resolve complex search-related issues at scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience as a search engineer or in a closely related position.

• Strong expertise in search technologies, specifically OpenSearch / ElasticSearch.

• Proven experience in measuring and optimizing search quality.

• Familiarity with high-volume, distributed data processing systems.

• Demonstrated ability to optimize query parsing, indexing, and relevance tuning for search systems.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Hands-on experience with vector embeddings and semantic search implementations (preferred).

• Experience with TypeScript in backend systems (preferred).

• A history of architecting search solutions that sustain performance under heavy load (preferred).

• Experience in applying machine learning and NLP to enhance search relevance (preferred).

• Knowledge of information retrieval concepts and search evaluation metrics (preferred).
