Senior Backend Engineer, Ruby on Rails

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Lead the development of innovative features by adhering to best practices and ensuring high code quality.

• Participate in all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), contributing to architecture, code development, and overseeing the launch of new releases.

• Provide support for critical services that guarantee the security of customer payments.

• Stay updated with the technology landscape to identify emerging technologies and industry trends, proactively recommending relevant enhancements to our existing technology stack.

• Promote engineering excellence by cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, exemplifying best practices such as code reviews, Test-Driven Development (TDD), pair programming, and writing clean, maintainable code.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Ruby (Rails) back-end development.

• Capability to devise the technical design for complex product features.

• Experience working on a rapidly growing product, with knowledge of architectural models for large-scale web applications.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

• Proficiency in API development and an understanding of resilience, scalability, and security considerations.

• Fluent in English.

• Passion for tackling long-term technical challenges and achieving them.

• Nice-to-Haves: Experience in full-stack development (React, Javascript, Typescript, etc.).

• Understanding of DevOps culture and experience with deployment pipelines and CI/CD tools such as Docker, AWS, and GitLab CI.

• Background in environments prioritizing security and sensitivity to good security practices.

• Experience in mentoring and leading both junior and experienced individuals in software craftsmanship best practices.

• Familiarity with other technologies in high-throughput settings.
