Senior Backend Engineer, Python/Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and manage high-throughput, low-latency backend services for ad delivery and analytics.

• Take responsibility for queue-driven workloads utilizing Celery/Redis/DragonflyDB, focusing on throughput, retries, back-pressure, and idempotency.

• Enhance performance comprehensively across CPU/memory, networking, asyncio/concurrency, caching, and schema/indexing.

• Deploy services on AWS utilizing EC2, S3, RDS, ClickHouse, ALB/NLB, IAM, and Elasticsearch.

• Establish observability through metrics, tracing, structured logs, SLOs, and alerts.

• Work collaboratively with product and analytics teams to expedite feature delivery.

• Conduct load tests and capacity planning for peak QPS.

• Strengthen systems for resilience, cost-effectiveness, and security through least-privilege IAM, secrets management, and threat modeling.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building production backend systems using Python (Go is a plus).

• Strong experience with AWS in managing scalable and reliable services.

• Demonstrated success in optimizing servers for high load and low latency.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Celery or similar queue systems, task orchestration, and the fundamentals of distributed systems.

• Proficient in Bash, Linux networking, and performance debugging utilizing tools like perf, eBPF, and flame graphs.

• Solid understanding of JavaScript/Web fundamentals, including HTTP, TLS, CORS, cookies, caching, and CDNs.

• Experience with SQL/NoSQL and data modeling for large-scale read/write operations.

• Excellent communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, quick learning ability, initiative, and a strong work ethic to achieve goals.

• At least an upper-intermediate level of English proficiency.

• Familiarity with RTB/OpenRTB, VAST/VMAP, header bidding, or DSP/SSP integrations is advantageous.

• Experience with Redis/DragonflyDB tuning, Kafka/Kinesis, ClickHouse/Redshift, or Airflow is beneficial.

• Knowledge of Docker/K8s, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, zero-downtime deployments, and canary/blue-green deployment strategies would be a plus.

• Understanding of security and compliance in ad systems, including PII, consent/TCF, is desirable.

• Experience with Elasticsearch/Kibana would be an added advantage.
