Senior Backend Engineer – MCP Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Develop and deploy MCP server components

• Architect the backend infrastructure for tool utilization and agent orchestration layers that are integrated into an existing Java/SQL Server stack

• Take responsibility for the quality of implementation — not just coding, but also establishing patterns for the team to adhere to

• Engage in daily collaboration with the current AI Engineer as MCP and agent workflows overlap

• Add value to technical decisions by sharing your insights — this is a collaborative relationship rather than a hierarchical one

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical Java development experience with Spring Boot and WebFlux — not just familiarity with frameworks, but a solid understanding of OOP fundamentals and the capability to design complex systems from scratch

• Proven experience in integrating on-premises systems with cloud-hosted services — the core architecture necessitates connecting existing on-prem infrastructure to a cloud-deployed agent layer

• Hands-on experience with LLM tooling integration: MCP protocol, function calling, or tool orchestration patterns in a production environment

• Strong instincts in system design — capable of designing, documenting, and justifying an architecture prior to writing any code

• Experienced with SQL Server at scale — including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling for high-throughput systems

• Comfortable collaborating as a peer with a senior engineer on the client side, rather than working under supervision

• Near-native English proficiency — capable of engaging in both asynchronous and synchronous communication with a US-based technical lead and client stakeholders
