This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.
• Set the technical direction for backend projects within the Engagement & Monetization team.
• Convert product and monetization objectives into clear, actionable backend specifications.
• Implement backend modifications that positively influence key performance indicators and core business metrics.
• Make informed trade-offs regarding speed, quality, scalability, and product results, documenting decisions as necessary.
• Ensure readiness for production through rigorous testing, resilience, observability, and operational excellence.
• Facilitate experimentation by creating measurable, well-instrumented, and safe-to-iterate systems.
• Enhance tracking and observability to accurately attribute the impact of experiments.
• Contribute to enhancements in the backend codebase, such as migrating to TypeScript.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, collaborative pairing, and providing design feedback.
• Foster alignment across teams and proactively manage inter-team dependencies.
• Strengthen documentation, specifications, and onboarding materials to boost squad efficiency.
• Over 8 years of experience in backend engineering, particularly in startup or scale-up environments.
• Highly skilled in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Extensive experience in designing and scaling APIs with a focus on performance, security, and observability.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and NATS.
• Proficient in designing scalable architectures that handle high volumes of traffic.
• In-depth understanding of databases, both SQL and NoSQL, in production settings.
• Strong commitment to engineering best practices, including testing, resilience, and documentation.
• Possess a product-oriented mindset, understanding how backend decisions impact business KPIs.
• Enjoy mentoring others and elevating the technical standards within the team.
• Comfortable communicating in English within an international context.
