This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and manage distributed backend systems that handle data-intensive tasks, supporting Data Platform functionalities across Experimentation, Metrics, Release Guardian, Observability, Agent Control, and various other product domains.
• Take ownership of and enhance the production data infrastructure, which encompasses streaming and batch pipelines, analytical data repositories, warehouse export systems, observability, alerting, reliability, and performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate production challenges across data pipelines, databases, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems, including participating in the team’s on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers, UX designers, and other product engineering teams to deliver dependable customer-facing data functionalities.
• Draft and evaluate technical proposals, contribute to architectural decisions, and assist the team in making informed trade-offs regarding scalability, reliability, cost, and operability.
• Enhance engineering standards, testing methodologies, deployment safety, observability, tooling, and operational processes for Data Platform systems.
• Write maintainable, thoroughly tested code and engage actively in code reviews, design evaluations, and discussions on production readiness.
• Over 6 years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
• Proven experience in designing, constructing, operating, and debugging reliable production systems that manage, store, process, or query substantial data volumes.
• Practical experience with technologies for data pipelines, streaming, orchestration, or batch processing, such as Kinesis, Airflow, Spark, Lambda, Flink, Athena, Kafka, or analogous systems.
• Familiarity with analytical, event, warehouse, or operational data stores like ClickHouse, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Timestream, Glue/Iceberg/S3, Redshift, Databricks, or similar systems.
• Strong programming proficiency in Go, Python, SQL, Scala, or comparable backend languages.
• Understanding of distributed systems and backend engineering principles, including concurrency, data modeling, failure management, retries, idempotency, partitioning, backpressure, and high-throughput processing.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or equivalents, along with observability tools like Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
• A robust ownership mindset for production systems, emphasizing maintainability, testing, operational excellence, code quality, collaboration, and effective technical communication.
