This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.
• Create, develop, and manage backend services using PHP and Go that support the guest portal and direct sales site builder.
• Lead the process of extracting services from our monolithic architecture, establishing clear boundaries, ownership, and migration strategies.
• Work closely with Product and Design teams to conceptualize and deliver features that significantly enhance direct bookings.
• Design and implement APIs tailored for agentic interfaces, making our guest-facing domain accessible to AI agents and automated processes.
• Enhance page speed and overall performance, collaborating with frontend colleagues since conversion rates depend on these factors.
• Participate in high-level architectural planning and assist us in moving swiftly without incurring technical debt.
• Utilize AI to expedite code delivery—our team provides a Claude Team Premium subscription and expects engineers to maximize its use.
• Over 6 years of experience as a Backend Engineer, with a solid foundation in software engineering principles.
• Extensive experience with PHP in production environments, along with familiarity or a strong interest in Go and the ability to learn quickly.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing high-traffic, customer-facing systems.
• Experience in decomposing monoliths or extracting services, with a practical perspective on when it’s appropriate to do so.
• Robust experience in API design—REST, GraphQL, or similar—focusing on clarity, versioning, and usability (bonus points for building APIs for AI agents or LLM-driven clients).
• Proficient in using AI coding tools (like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) in your daily workflow, with the ability to leverage them effectively.
• Proven track record in product-oriented engineering teams, preferably within a SaaS environment.
• Familiarity with Node.js and React is advantageous.
