Senior Backend Engineer – Automation, Platform Implementation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Develop, enhance, and optimize Java-based microservices that handle task execution, state management, and orchestration logic.

• Design and manage NoSQL document databases to track execution states, workflow metadata, and session/context persistence.

• Establish internal API contracts, adapters, and connectors that facilitate modular integration with external APIs and customer deployments.

• Implement production-ready infrastructure for data ingestion, document chunking, embedding indexing, and retrieval (RAG) pipelines.

• Architect backend services that support multi-step agentic workflows, including context assembly, tool calls, and session memory.

• Deploy, configure, and tailor the automation platform to align with specific customer use cases and business needs.

• Integrate external systems through custom synchronization pipelines, webhooks, and enterprise integrations (e.g., OAuth, ETL-style ingestion).

• Troubleshoot production issues across our stack and customer environments, gathering field insights to enhance the core platform.

• Improve platform observability by implementing robust tracing, execution visibility, and debugging tools for failed executions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on building resilient production backend systems and working with distributed architectures.

• Strong expertise in Java, particularly in developing scalable microservices, managing asynchronous jobs, handling retries, idempotency, and system failure modes.

• Experience with NoSQL document databases (e.g., MongoDB, Firestore, Couchbase) for tracking state and metadata.

• Background in building or integrating workflow engines or enterprise automation systems (beyond one-off scripting).

• Proficient in Python for creating integrations, tooling, and rapid prototyping.

• Solid comprehension of LLM application structures, including embedding systems, vector search, retrieval mechanics, context windows, and agent/tool execution.

• Strong interest or hands-on experience in semantic search, RAG pipelines, or conversational AI backends.

• High Agency & Independent Execution: A strong sense of ownership and exceptional self-direction to explore undocumented paths, make sound architectural decisions, and complete projects with minimal guidance.
