Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance back-end systems within the Ticketure product.

• Take ownership of and tackle significant problems and projects from the gathering of requirements through to production delivery.

• Assume responsibility for technical tasks, including overseeing the work of others as a senior team member.

• Ensure that work adheres to technical norms and meets quality standards.

• Collaborate with client-facing team members to fulfill client expectations and effectively triage and resolve issues.

• Support contractual SLAs, including providing short-notice availability for issues or outages that hinder clients from selling tickets.

• Make informed codebase tradeoffs, balancing business continuity with roadmap delivery.

• Mentor and assist engineers in best practices, code quality, and technical problem-solving.

• Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design teams.

• Report directly to the Team Lead, Engineering (Ticketure).

⛳️ Requirements

• Four or more years of experience in back-end development, designing and building scalable, high-performance, and high-quality systems.

• Practical production experience in building systems using Go.

• Hands-on experience with MySQL and ElasticSearch in a production environment.

• Experience in deploying and maintaining systems in a cloud setting; AWS is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of JavaScript and Vue.js.

• Capability to decompose complex technical problems and identify their root causes.

• Skill in translating intricate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent projects without compromising quality.

• Passion for mentoring engineers and enhancing the technical skill set of the wider team.

• Proficiency in Google Suite.

• Proficiency in Slack.
