Senior Backend Engineer – API

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Uruguay.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage a public API.

• Work independently while collaborating closely with fellow engineers and the designer/PM to ensure effective alignment.

• Investigate engineering enhancements for both the team and the product.

• Collaborate across functions with the product team, other Hopper teams, and external partner teams.

• Our team operates with minimal meetings and promotes strong alignment and asynchronous decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• A strong motivation to confidently explore an unfamiliar codebase while maintaining focus on delivering results quickly.

• Robust product thinking: their definition of quality is centered around the customer.

• Proven experience in building, maintaining, documenting, and operating a public API.

• Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn about, distributed system development in Scala.
