Senior Backend Engineer – API

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and manage a public API.

• Work independently while maintaining close collaboration with fellow engineers, as well as designers and project managers, to ensure strong alignment.

• Investigate engineering advancements for both the team and the product.

• Engage in cross-functional collaboration with the product team, other teams at Hopper, and external partner teams.

• Our team operates with minimal meetings and prioritizes strong alignment and asynchronous decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• A natural inclination to confidently explore an unfamiliar codebase while maintaining focus on delivering results promptly.

• Strong product-oriented mindset: their definition of quality is rooted in customer satisfaction.

• Proven experience in building, maintaining, documenting, and managing a public API.

• Familiarity with, or eagerness to learn about, distributed system development in Scala.

• Do you possess at least 4 years of experience in a backend-focused engineering position?

• Do you have experience with public APIs, specifically with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs?
