This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Develop the orchestration core as a cohesive layer across various AI providers.
• Execute failover mechanisms, retries, rate limiting, and swift onboarding of new AI models.
• Manage stable, versioned API contracts that are utilized by the Flutter client.
• Create a media pipeline for the storage and delivery of generated assets via S3/CDN while ensuring cost control.
• Ensure reliability during traffic spikes from paid sources by utilizing metrics, tracing, and provider-specific alerting.
• Implement usage accounting, track costs per generation, integrate billing, and facilitate idempotent charging.
• Design asynchronous generation pipelines incorporating long-running job queues, provider webhooks, delivery assurances, and failure recovery mechanisms.
• Influence the product's technical foundation, make architectural choices, and oversee end-to-end backend development.
• Propel solutions as the first Product Engineer throughout the complete development lifecycle.
• A minimum of 4 years of professional backend development experience.
• Proficient in Go, or substantial backend expertise in Java, Kotlin, C#, Rust, or TypeScript with a readiness to transition to Go from day one.
• Proven experience in designing and constructing backend services under actual production loads.
• Familiarity with architectural trade-offs and decision-making processes.
• Strong skills in REST and gRPC API design.
• Emphasis on maintainability, backward compatibility, and APIs utilized by mobile applications.
• Experience in integrating third-party APIs, including handling retries, idempotency, rate limiting, and graceful recovery from partial failures.
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, encompassing transactions, isolation levels, indexing, and data consistency.
• Experience with asynchronous processing and messaging systems such as SQS, Redis, Kafka, or Temporal.
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP, Docker, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience in observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and independently troubleshooting production issues.
• Ability to familiarize oneself with an existing codebase and enhance it rather than starting from scratch.
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, iterative pre-PMF environment.
• Prepared to take ownership as the inaugural Product Engineer.
• Experience with VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and Sentry is advantageous.
• Production experience with generative models, billing systems, media pipelines, B2C products, streaming protocols, Kubernetes, Kafka, early-stage startups, or personal projects that have been completed are preferred.
