Senior Backend Developer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance the backend architecture for IoT initiatives: including data ingestion pipelines, API design, and infrastructure choices.

• Make informed technical trade-off decisions and articulate them effectively to both the team and clients.

• Design and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, utilizing services such as EKS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Timestream, and S3.

• Facilitate technical discussions, including RFCs, architecture evaluations, and post-mortems.

• Provide mentorship to other backend engineers, elevate code quality standards, and establish patterns for others to emulate.

• Collaborate closely with firmware engineers, mobile developers, QA specialists, project managers, and clients.

• Incorporate AI tools into your daily workflow.

• Question product and technical assumptions when inconsistencies arise.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in backend development, with a significant portion dedicated to leading technical directions.

• Proficient in Node.js for production-scale systems.

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS technologies: EKS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Timestream, and S3.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and Terraform.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and data pipelines.

• Experience with MQTT or comparable IoT messaging protocols.

• Proven experience in designing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).

• Proficient in English at a B2+ level, both written and spoken.
