Senior Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• In the role of (Senior) Backend Developer (m/f/d), you will assume technical ownership within our SHC+Care business unit.

• You will design and create scalable, secure, and maintainable services.

• Your responsibilities will include working on the core systems of our online portal.

• Collaborating with us, you will modernize our platform and services, launch new features, and continuously enhance code, architecture, and processes.

• You will be accountable for the central backend systems of our products, managing everything from new features to performance optimization and scalable architectures.

• You will operate within a cross-functional agile remote team.

• Your work will involve utilizing CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring & observability, refactoring, and conducting code reviews.

• You will make and be responsible for sustainable architectural decisions.

• You will monitor our production systems and address issues and bugs at their source.

• You will actively share your knowledge and expertise with the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• JVM experience: You possess several years of experience with backend architectures in Kotlin or Java and are skilled in managing complex live systems across development and production environments.

• Comfortable with our tech stack: You are proficient with the essential technologies in our stack, including Ktor, GitLab, and Docker.

• Regulated systems & quality: You comprehend the requirements of regulated environments and consistently apply security, compliance, and audit standards.

• Agile mindset: You have experience working in agile teams (e.g., Scrum) with two-week sprints and take ownership of your assigned tasks.

• Coding practices: Your code is clean, maintainable, and adheres to clear principles.

• Ownership & drive: You advance topics independently, recognize opportunities for improvement, and initiate change with determination.

• Language & willingness to travel: You are fluent in both German and English and are open to traveling approximately once per quarter for team or project meetings.
