Senior Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nicaragua.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend services, APIs, and asynchronous background workers for a high-traffic, multi-tenant platform.

• Take ownership of system design decisions and actively participate in architecture discussions alongside a small, senior team.

• Collaborate directly with Shopify APIs as part of a large-scale merchant integration project.

• Oversee and enhance PostgreSQL databases, focusing on connection pooling and query performance optimization.

• Play a key role in migrating infrastructure from Railway to Azure.

• Detect and address performance bottlenecks in a system that processes millions of transactions daily.

• Produce clean, well-documented, and testable code while engaging in code reviews.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance speed and quality without sacrificing engineering judgment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend development.

• Proven production experience in one or more of the following: Go, TypeScript/Node.js, or Python.

• Strong grasp of concurrency models and the ability to design systems that scale effectively under load.

• Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and connection management.

• Familiarity with Redis for caching and asynchronous/background processing patterns.

• Practical experience with GraphQL API design.

• Strong foundation in system design principles: multi-tenant architectures, distributed systems, and event-driven patterns.

• Knowledge of Docker; experience with Kubernetes is an advantage.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, especially Azure or a similar provider.
