Senior Back End Engineer – Streaming Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Designing and developing the streaming data platform engine and software development kit (SDK)

• Creating new functionalities for our suite of web and streaming applications as well as enhancing data reporting capabilities

• Actively participating in the platform's development concerning technical decisions and implementations

• Collaborating closely with the wider team to tackle new challenges and adapt to evolving requirements as we grow and shift priorities

• Utilizing Claude Code and other AI tools responsibly to enhance productivity

• Engaging in paired programming with an expanding team of Back-end, Data, and Front-end Engineers

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8.5+ years of experience as a Back End Engineer

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot

• Experience in developing and deploying applications on public cloud platforms such as AWS

• Practical knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: Kafka, Kafka Streams processor API (excluding high-level DSL), DataBricks, EMR, DeltaFlow

• Skill in profiling, debugging, and performance tuning of complex distributed systems

• Strong emphasis on unit testing and mocking frameworks with a Test Driven Development (TDD) approach

• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and contemporary development practices

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
