Senior Back-End Engineer, Rust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Dominican Republic.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical transformation of existing Python-based microservices, data pipelines, and security APIs into production-quality, idiomatic Rust.

• Analyze legacy Python services to pinpoint performance issues and utilize Rust’s zero-cost abstractions to significantly enhance CPU, memory, and I/O efficiency.

• Establish and advocate for Rust best practices within the engineering team, focusing on rigorous error handling, effective automated testing, and thorough CI/CD linting standards.

• Collaborate intimately with security and cryptography protocols to guarantee that all rewritten Rust modules comply with Zero-Trust architecture and memory-safety requirements.

• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate seamless integration, actively engaging in architecture evaluations and system design.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of professional experience in building, deploying, and maintaining high-performance backend applications or APIs using Rust.

• Extensive knowledge of Rust best practices, including asynchronous programming (e.g., the Tokio ecosystem), advanced trait design, and safe concurrency.

• Strong proficiency in Python, with the capability to read, analyze, and reverse-engineer existing complex codebases effortlessly.

• A demonstrated history of designing scalable, resilient distributed systems and low-latency RESTful or gRPC APIs.

• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and deploying high-availability services in cloud environments (such as AWS or GCP).
