Senior Back-end Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Contribute to our vision and the evolution of Agentic AI tooling and platforms by providing technical leadership and demonstrating proactive thinking.

• Make decisions by evaluating various quality dimensions, including user impact, failure tolerance, code maintenance, implementation time, security vulnerabilities, and performance.

• Establish quality gates and enhance agentic-driven processes and workflows.

• Collaborate on innovative ideas to enhance team processes.

• Take the lead on initiatives and manage subproducts and feature development from the problem statement and specifications to production deployment.

• Ensure and monitor the quality of our product.

• Raise awareness of technical challenges.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of business value and work with stakeholders by analyzing features and proposing alternatives.

• Assist users of our platforms and tools with their issues and resolve any bugs they encounter.

• Proactively identify areas of technical debt and product improvement, suggesting enhancements to our technology stack.

• Mentor fellow team members.

• Address challenging and/or systemic issues and obstacles to your manager's attention.

⛳️ Requirements

• A solid 8+ years of experience in software development, including:

• At least 5+ years working with systems-level or backend technologies such as Rust, Go, NodeJS, Python, Ruby, or Java.

• Required experience with asynchronous web frameworks (Axum, Actix, Warp, Tokio ecosystem, or equivalent in other languages).

• Required experience with databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and caching layers (Redis).

• Required experience with authentication and authorization systems (OAuth 2.0, JWT, OIDC).

• Required experience with WebSocket or real-time communication protocols.

• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable) is a plus.

• Experience with frontend technologies such as React is a plus.

• Familiarity with agentic development tools & practices for routine work and personal automation projects, such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini-cli, OpenCode, pi-agent, or others.

• Strong knowledge of functional and object-oriented programming, automated software testing, and essential development and testing methodologies.

• Ability to assess multiple quality dimensions, including risk assessment, user impact, failure tolerance, code maintenance, implementation time, security vulnerabilities, and performance.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to thrive in autonomy across all aspects of daily work—capable of unblocking yourself by identifying the right resources or assistance.

• A team player who avoids solo performances and helps unblock peers.

• Commitment to quality through impactful testing, proposals for process changes, and raising awareness of issues, whether product-related or technical.

• Concern for architecture—applying best practices, utilizing software design patterns, and suggesting areas for improvement.
