Senior AWS Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain scalable ETL and data pipelines utilizing Python, PySpark, and AWS services.

• Manage and develop workflows with Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.

• Construct event-driven integrations employing SNS, SQS, and associated AWS services.

• Design and enhance data lake and warehouse solutions using S3, Athena, and Redshift.

• Create and optimize high-performance SQL for intricate transformations and reporting tasks.

• Design and execute frameworks for data validation, monitoring, logging, alerting, and error handling.

• Design and facilitate API-based and JSON-based integrations across both internal and external systems.

• Diagnose operational issues, ascertain root causes, and implement corrective measures.

• Contribute to documentation, deployment automation, and adherence to engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and provide mentorship to junior team members when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree is mandatory for the visa application process.

• 8–12 years of software development experience within the relevant platform.

• A robust IT background and experience.

• Experience as an application developer on projects of similar scope and responsibility.

• Proficient in Python, PySpark, and SQL.

• Significant hands-on experience with AWS Glue, Redshift, RDS, Lambda, Step Functions, SNS, SQS, S3, Athena, EMR, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.

• Familiarity with enterprise data lakes, data warehouses, data marts, and big data environments.

• Strong comprehension of ETL best practices, data quality, and operational support.

• Experience with APIs, JSON, and cloud-based data integration methodologies.

• Knowledge of GitLab, Terraform, CI/CD, and AWS developer tools.

• Experience with DynamoDB, EC2, ECS, and Batch.

• Exposure to data migration and cloud modernization initiatives.

• Understanding of performance engineering for code pipelines and near-real-time systems.

• Good understanding of Agents and MCP.

• Advanced oral English proficiency.

• Advanced Spanish proficiency.

• Resilience, emotional intelligence, and a focus on agile delivery.

• Familiarity with cloud-native foundations or AI coding assistants is preferred.
