Senior Automation Engineer, Quality Platform

📋 Description

• Take on a leadership role at Airbnb, utilizing AI to transform and expedite Quality Engineering.

• As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will tackle this challenge by developing and sustaining automation coverage for features and releases. You will collaborate directly with the product engineering team to create and maintain our testing tools, write and validate product code, engage in design reviews to create testable systems, and guide designs and code to improve modularity and testability.

• You have a strong desire to comprehend intricate systems in their entirety and excel at navigating various technologies and codebases. Additionally, you thrive in environments filled with ambiguity, are skilled in concept validation, and implement top-tier solutions.

• Utilize AI and tools to spearhead the execution of a test automation strategy that encompasses the entire testing pyramid (unit, service, integration, and end-to-end testing) to validate feature functionality for customer scenarios.

• Lead the creation, maintenance, and effective use of automated tests, working closely with engineering teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage for features and releases, while actively participating in the ongoing enhancement of testing processes.

• Contribute to the refinement of existing automation frameworks to accommodate new functionalities and enhance quality and efficiency.

• Partner with the CI/CD team to incorporate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, guaranteeing thorough test coverage at every phase of development.

• Exhibit exceptional troubleshooting skills, isolate issues, and confirm bug resolutions. Debug problems identified during testing and post-release.

• Be an integral member of our high-performance team, ensuring code quality, a commitment to craftsmanship, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, and other QE units, in a dynamic environment with quick release cycles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software testing and automation within the industry.

• Proven proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Typescript, Javascript) along with strong scripting abilities.

• In-depth understanding of test automation methodologies, tools, and frameworks.

• Extensive hands-on experience with web automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress).

• Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Buildkite, Spinnaker, Jenkins) and version control systems (Git).

• Exceptional communication skills that facilitate interactions with cross-functional teams.

• Expertise in developing solutions for ambiguous problems and facilitating integrations across multiple teams with significant impact.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or a related field.
