This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Senior Inpatient Audit & Billing Compliance Specialist will collaborate with the Inpatient Coding Team, providing training, auditing, and reviewing processes related to Inpatient Coding functions.
• Services may be part of a regular audit schedule or conducted as ad hoc audits, depending on the presence of an inpatient coder in training.
• This role will serve as the inpatient coding educator, responsible for tracking all new coding regulations and preparing quarterly in-services for inpatient coders.
• Candidates must possess extensive knowledge of DRG and hold relevant training qualifications.
• The position involves training inpatient coding trainees.
• Daily monitoring and reviewing of inpatient coding trainees will be required.
• Utilize the reviews to create training material.
• Establish quarterly audit schedules for all inpatient coders.
• Prepare quarterly in-service sessions focused on areas of weakness identified during the audit process for the inpatient team.
• Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
• A Bachelor’s degree along with 5 years of experience in coding/auditing functions or nursing, or a High School diploma with 9 years of experience in professional coding/auditing functions or nursing.
• Current RN, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification is required, along with a solid understanding of the revenue cycle.
• Strong critical thinking skills are essential for this position.
• Independent decision-making abilities are necessary.
• The role requires the ability to assess whether processes are being executed correctly and to discuss findings with leaders.
• A preference for candidates with at least 10-15 years of experience in DRG Coding and comprehensive knowledge of AHA Coding Clinics.
• Ideally, applicants should have five successful years of experience working with Senior Leadership, including preparing and presenting reports.
• CPMA or CEMC certification is preferred.
