This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Acts on behalf of the Florida Commission on Human Relations in civil litigation, administrative matters, and various legal proceedings.
• Drafts legal documents, performs legal research, and offers counsel on legal issues and transactions.
• Evaluates whether statutory violations have taken place in cases reviewed by the agency.
• Assesses investigative reports for their legal adequacy.
• Creates Determinations and other legal documents for assessment and approval.
• Collaborates with investigations managers to enhance work quality and amend investigative reports.
• Advocates for the agency in legal proceedings.
• Addresses inquiries related to legal matters concerning employment discrimination, retaliation, public accommodations, and fair housing.
• Develops and delivers legal training modules.
• Must be admitted to The Florida Bar and maintain good standing.
• A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in legal practice, legal research, law education, or in administrative or judicial hearings.
• A degree in business administration, public administration, or business management is preferred.
• Preferred experience in employment discrimination law and/or housing discrimination law.
• Preferred experience in drafting and revising complex documents.
• Preferred experience in managing a substantial caseload.
• Preferred experience in preparing proposed final orders.
