
Senior Architect, Licensed Building Architect – Data Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee architectural design for extensive hyperscale cloud data center and colocation initiatives from initial concept through construction oversight and project completion.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, construction crews, and external partners to create coordinated and integrated design solutions.
• Create and evaluate drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client guidelines.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and permitting agencies to facilitate project execution and adhere to regulatory requirements.
• Act as the architectural expert for hyperscale and colocation clients.
• Guarantee operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability in facility design.
• Mentor and support junior architects and designers.
• Implement industry best practices and current trends in data center design.
• Assist with business development, proposal creation, and conceptual architectural designs for new opportunities.
• Collaborate with global AECOM teams on prominent data center projects.
• Participate in occasional client meetings, significant project milestones, on-site collaboration sessions, and other essential business activities.
• Attend mandatory in-person onboarding on Day 1 at an AECOM office.
• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience with colocation and hyperscale data center projects.
• Familiarity with building codes, mission-critical infrastructure standards, and data center design specifications.
• Proficient in BIM ACC (Revit), AutoCAD, and associated design tools.
• Active U.S. Architectural license is preferred.
• LEED accreditation or equivalent sustainable design qualifications are preferred.
• 5+ years of experience working with hyperscale client standards and colocation facility delivery models is preferred.
• Experience in dynamic, global project settings is preferred.
• Extensive experience collaborating with permitting authorities and AHJs is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
• Capacity to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
