• Establishes and supports the strategy and objectives for data governance.
• Oversees the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of frameworks, policies, standards, and operational models related to data governance and architecture.
• Educates data stewards on their duties, including adherence to standards, and assists them in fulfilling their responsibilities.
• Advocates for the data governance strategy and requirements among both technical and business stakeholders.
• Assesses and applies data governance operating models, tools, and technologies.
• Utilizes a practical understanding of data query tools to access existing data repositories.
• Reviews data models to ensure alignment with data architecture standards, providing coaching to teams as needed.
• Enhances job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities.
• Offers mentorship and direction to junior analysts and data stewards.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or relevant experience.
• At least 7-10 years of pertinent experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Strong comprehension of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
• Understanding of data quality rule architecture and stewardship facilitation.
• Support for governance operating models, including involvement in the Data Governance Council and enabling Data Stewardship.
• Engagement with cross-functional stakeholders among data producers and consumers.
• Knowledge of data architecture and data warehousing principles.
• Experience with enterprise data governance covering data quality, metadata management, data stewardship, and data lineage concepts.
• Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar).
• Design of data contracts and data products, including accountability frameworks for data producers and consumers.
• Certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) are preferred.
• Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, etc.) is advantageous.
• Awareness of regulatory and compliance obligations.
