This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Conduct scientific and technical analysis based on first principles to develop hypotheses for applications of remote sensing electro-optical and infrared imagery data and innovative use cases.

• Execute feasibility studies, literature reviews, and trade analyses to aid in the development of early-stage mission and data concepts.

• Analyze and manipulate pixel-level geospatial and spectral datasets to derive unique insights and validate new mission concepts.

• Create and produce prototype electro-optical and infrared imagery products, as well as sample intelligence products that showcase the unique capabilities of Muon’s systems.

• Assist in customer discovery and engagement initiatives, converting operational challenges and needs into technical requirements and derived data solutions.

• Collaborate across functions with product management, business development, and engineering teams to identify and develop new markets, products, and technologies.

• Contribute to the development of technical proposals and white papers that clearly articulate the differentiation and mission utility of Muon’s offerings.


⛳️ Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Physics, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical/scientific discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in geospatial research, analysis, and development of imagery data products.

• Solid foundation in scientific first principles, encompassing geospatial imagery analysis, spectral science, optical systems, and physics-based remote sensing.

• Experience with infrared, multispectral, hyperspectral, or similar remote sensing phenomena.

• Proven proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Julia) for advanced image processing and geospatial analysis.

• Demonstrated experience working directly with geospatial tools and manipulating raw, pixel-level data.

• Strategic and innovative mindset with the capability to navigate novel, ambiguous problems without predefined solutions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts for a variety of audiences.

• Strong collaborative abilities for working across disciplines such as data engineering, satellite operations, and mission architecture.
