Senior Applied Scientist – Allocation Optimization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Engaging in hands-on mathematical optimization for the allocation of stores within a region.

• Expanding the current constraint-based, multi-objective allocation framework to accommodate new regional store setups.

• Modifying models to align with regional business regulations such as store capacity, minimum presentation standards, lead times, and clearance strategies.

• Conducting model retraining and fine-tuning for each region as new stores become operational.

• Providing support for explainability outputs tailored for regional business teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in mathematical optimization techniques (including linear programming, constraint satisfaction, and multi-objective optimization).

• Proficiency in Python (experience with PuLP, OR-Tools; familiarity with Gurobi is a plus).

• Knowledge of retail inventory allocation and replenishment processes.

• Experience with SageMaker and Lambda integration.

• Comfort working within a federated data architecture, involving centralized model code and regional data.
