Senior Applied Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.

📋 Description

• Analyze complex business challenges across multiple domains with a keen emphasis on return on investment and impact metrics, while determining the suitable technical approaches from proof of concept to production.

• Create solutions and derive insights from data utilizing data science, classical machine learning methods, and generative AI (GenAI).

• Take responsibility for the development, implementation, and automation of robust data science and machine learning models and pipelines, which include feature generation, modeling, evaluation, retraining, and deployment.

• Convert complex analytical results and model outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders, effectively driving value and enhancing key business metrics.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to comprehend requirements and deliver cutting-edge Data Science/ML/AI solutions.

• Investigate the latest advancements in Data Science/ML/AI and integrate these developments to enhance our systems.

• Maintain documentation of processes, code, and findings for future reference and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of hands-on industry experience in addressing data science and machine learning challenges to solve real-world business issues across various sectors.

• Proficient programming skills in Python and SQL, along with expertise in relevant Data Science & ML frameworks (Scikit-learn, Pandas, PyTorch, etc.).

• Capable of approaching problems from fundamental principles and functioning with a high degree of independence and autonomy while providing clarity on under-specified issues.

• Comprehensive knowledge of statistical and machine learning algorithms, methodologies, and approaches ranging from Support Vector Machines to deep learning and large language models.

• Proficient in overseeing the entire lifecycle of ML/AI projects from initial conception to containerization.

• Proven history of hands-on ownership and implementation of projects that have been deployed in production and resulted in significant impact.

• Experience in leveraging statistical concepts (e.g., regressions, A/B testing, clustering, probability) to address business challenges.

• Strong problem-solving abilities paired with excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of transforming analysis into well-structured and persuasive content.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
