Senior Application Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, performance, and reliability of cloud-based databases that serve applications.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop scalable, resilient, and cost-effective database solutions.

• Provide guidance on best practices for database design, schema modifications, and performance optimization.

• Diagnose and resolve production issues, conducting root cause analysis as necessary.

• Establish standards, guardrails, and automation to enhance database operations.

• Mentor team members and facilitate knowledge sharing within engineering and database communities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience with application databases or in DBA positions, particularly in cloud environments.

• Extensive expertise in at least one relational database platform (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).

• Practical experience with cloud-managed database services and contemporary architectures.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting.

• Experience in supporting production systems and making independent, sound technical decisions.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams.
